I’m not sure anyone would disagree with me when I say that footwear is important in life, but especially when it comes to horses. If you are anything like me, you look for a good quality boot that won’t break the bank, that is a bit of a large range of prices depending on who you speak to. My current favorite boot is these Ariats I have owned Noconas, Dan Post, and a few others and these are the pair that I like the most so far. You may not agree with my choice of style but I love the riding heel, I’m on the shorter side so wearing these allows me to come up to the average height for a person lol. Also, they are very comfortable, I have been known to play a pickup game of basketball in them, but more on that later if you are interested in hearing that story.
There are plenty of opinions out there about boots and makers and what you should and shouldn’t buy. I didn’t want to get into a debate about boots today, what I wanted to talk to you about is something that I have been working on for 3 years now. I wanted to make sure that I had some history with this product before I presented it to you. I’m happy to announce that I have been extremely pleased with how this product has performed.
Okay no more suspense, I want to talk to you about your socks. Yes, the article of clothing that is thought about the least. Think about it, it’s the morning you are getting ready for the day and you throw on some socks and then your boots and you are out the door, if you happen to throw on some socks with holes in them (a common occurrence for me) then you put on your list to grab some more cheap socks the next time you can.
That is about all the extent of the effort we put into our socks, I know this because I was like that as well. Until I decided that I was fed up with holes in my socks and a friend of mine suggested getting a pair of Darn Tough socks. I had never heard of this company before so I did some research, they are a company that is located in Vermont and all their socks are made in the USA which was a plus in my book. Their socks are made for boots, which isn’t super common and they are merino wool which if you do some research you will find is the best choice for socks. Lastly, they have a lifetime guarantee, if you have damaged socks for any reason they will send you a new pair, which is awesome! No more trips to the store for socks!
Let me tell you, I was a bit skeptical about a pair of wool socks that could withstand the test of time. I can ruin socks like no one else. So I decided to try one pair and see what I thought of them, the result was nothing like what I imagined.
I felt like I was wearing socks like they were meant to feel and what they were designed to be in the first place, not like the mass-produced socks we see today. Darn Tough socks are the most comfortable socks I have ever worn, they are part of the reason I can play a pickup game of basketball in my Ariats! But the real test was to see if they would hold up to the brutal beating that I have dished out historically to my feet sheets (a new name for socks?).
As I am writing this, I am wearing that exact pair of socks that I purchase 3 years ago and they are still going strong. Since that day I have changed my sock collection over to all Darn Tough socks so that I don’t have to wear bad socks any longer, it has been fantastic. I’ve even had to buy my wife some (she likes these ones) because she kept stealing mine.
The bottom line is this, these socks are built like steel but are so comfortable that you forget you are wearing them and as far as a bargain goes, quality = longevity which is the best bargain you can buy. Do your feet a favor and give Darn Tough socks a try.
